Brazilian Rain Tree (BRT-BON-R)

The Brazilian Rain tree, or Pithecellobium torta, is an unusual tree that makes for an excellent bonsai. The leaves fold up at night and the bark exfoliates to expose an age-revealing creamy under-bark.

Be aware that each late winter/early spring they will drop leaves, but fear not, they grow back almost immediately.

IMPORTANT: Brazilian Rain will likely lose "most" (90% of) their leaves during shipping. That is normal for these trees and they bounce back very quickly - usually within a week you'll start seeing new growth, and in a couple weeks, it should look full again.

Tree size will vary. These are just estimates, based on availability.

  • 12-17" tall
  • 12-15" spread.
  • ~8" Glazed Pot.
